tea fields in Shizuoka, Japan

the story

how it began

I'm Jesse, the founder of mind&leaf.

After a concussion left me dealing with intense anxiety, coffee stopped being an option. I needed something that could support my mind without overwhelming it.

I had tried matcha before and written it off. Coming back to it, I realized the problem wasn't matcha. I had just never experienced it the way it was meant to be.

Then I found the real thing. First-harvest, stone-ground matcha from Japan. Fresh, smooth, and distinctly different. Calm, steady focus with no crash or jitters.

That experience changed everything. It opened the door to what matcha actually is and how much it can vary depending on where and how it's grown.

I traveled to Japan to learn more and met the tea farmers behind the craft who now stand behind mind&leaf.

mind&leaf is built on that foundation.

why it matters

Every step shapes the final cup. From farming to preparation, each decision affects flavor, color, and character. When done right, matcha is smoother, more vibrant, and delivers calm, steady energy.
