how it began
I'm Jesse, the founder of mind&leaf.
After a concussion left me dealing with intense anxiety, coffee stopped being an option. I needed something that could support my mind without overwhelming it.
I had tried matcha before and written it off. Coming back to it, I realized the problem wasn't matcha. I had just never experienced it the way it was meant to be.
Then I found the real thing. First-harvest, stone-ground matcha from Japan. Fresh, smooth, and distinctly different. Calm, steady focus with no crash or jitters.
That experience changed everything. It opened the door to what matcha actually is and how much it can vary depending on where and how it's grown.
I traveled to Japan to learn more and met the tea farmers behind the craft who now stand behind mind&leaf.
mind&leaf is built on that foundation.
a ritual rooted in the leaf, crafted for the mind
Not all matcha is the same, and everyone should be able to taste the difference.
mind&leaf exists to preserve the authentic taste and functional qualities of Japanese matcha while making differences in cultivar, region, harvest, and flavor easy to understand.
Like wine, no two harvests are the same. One may be silky and sweet, another deep and savory. That’s why we release in small batches and numbered editions, crafted with intention and meant to be savored.
Each drop tells its own story.
Never miss a drop. Join the list in the footer.
Matcha isn’t something you master, it’s something you grow with. What began as healing has become a lifelong study; a way to slow down, connect, and care for the mind.
